Autistic girl's rapist- slayer in Tayabas shot dead by cops in killed in Tagkawayan

TAGKAWAYAN, Quezon - The principal suspect in the rape- slay of a 10 year- old autistic girl in Tayabas City was shot dead by police operatives during a pursuit operation at Brgy. Aldaboc, this town on Wednesday.

Quezon police director Col. Audie Madrideo said farmer Mauro Gravamen, alias Papa Jun, 60, and resident of Brgy. Ibabang Alsam, Tayabas City suffered gunshot wound and died instantly.

Quoting reports from Tayabas City police chief Major Mark Amat, Madrideo said lawmen was about to arrest Gravamen at his hideout but the latter took a hand grenade in his bag and tried to pull the pin, prompting the authorities to shoot him.

"Despite a warning shot, he (Gravamen) tried to pull the grenade's pin. The pursuing cops did not allow him to do it by shooting him", said Madrideo.


Gravamen was identified by witnesses as the last person seen with Grade 5 pupil Kaycee Oabel, before the victim was found dead at the forested and hilly area of Brgy. Ilayang Alsam, Tayabas City on the morning of February 21.
The girl's face and body bore wounds believed to have been caused by a blunt instrument.

Scene of the Crime Officers who were requested to process the crime scene disc losed that the girl was raped several times before she was killed.

The victim who has been suffering from autism spectrum disorder was last seen alive at around 5:00 p.m. of February 19 at the said barangay.

Madrideo said that during follow-up investigation by Tayabas City police, Rosalina Janilano, live- in partner of the suspect told probers in a sworn statemet that the latter admitted the crime to her shortly before he went on hiding.

Witness Marvin Exhija, he claimed to have seen the suspect handing money to the victim before the crime was discovered.
