LUCENA CITY, Quezon — Some municipalities in Quezon Province have begun implementing power reduction measures as fuel supply becomes limited and continues to affect electricity generation in some areas. The situation reflects the broader impact of a global oil supply disruption linked to tensions in the Middle East.
The power interruption measure is temporary and is being implemented to manage the current condition of the power supply. The goal is to stabilize the situation and ensure continued service delivery.
In line with these measures, the municipal government of Jomalig has enforced a temporary power interruption schedule from March 24 to 29 to conserve limited fuel used for electricity generation. Electricity is cut daily from 5 a.m. to 1 p.m. as part of efforts to extend available supply while waiting for new fuel deliveries.
Meanwhile, the town of Patnanungan has also adjusted its electricity operations due to similar fuel limitations affecting its local power plant. Power availability has been reduced to 16 hours daily, operating only from 4 p.m. to 8 a.m. the following day to conserve remaining fuel supply.
In Atimonan, the municipal government has issued an executive order mandating fuel conservation measures, including the implementation of a four-day workweek in selected offices. The policy aims to ensure efficient use of fuel and uninterrupted public service delivery.
In Lucena City, local authorities have also adopted fuel conservation measures, including a four-day workweek in some offices. The city continues to maintain stable power supply through its connection to the main power grid.
The situation continues to be monitored as fuel limitations persist across multiple communities in the province. Additional conservation measures may be implemented if supply conditions do not improve in the coming days.
