PAGBILAO, Quezon - A prolonged disruption in water supply has caused shortages across several barangays in Pagbilao, Quezon. Service gaps and weak distribution have prompted local officials to seek urgent intervention and accelerate infrastructure solutions.

In the Privilege Hour during the 37th Regular Session of the 12th Sangguniang Bayan, Councilor Manuel Joseph Luce cited repeated complaints from residents affected by unstable water flow. He raised concerns over persistent supply interruptions reported in multiple barangays.



“Matagal na pong problema ang kakulangan ng tubig sa ilang barangay, at patuloy itong nararanasan ng ating mga kababayan,” ani Luce. “Kailangan na po nating agarang tugunan ito lalo na’t papalapit ang tag-init.”

Luce reported that Barangay Castelo and nearby areas have experienced weak to no water supply since December. He added that by March, some households were no longer receiving any water, forcing them to rely on stored or delivered sources.

“May mga lugar na halos wala nang pumapasok na tubig simula pa noong Disyembre hanggang ngayon,” aniya. “Umaasa na lamang ang ilan sa nakaimbak o dinadalang tubig para sa kanilang pang-araw-araw na pangangailangan.”

Vice Mayor Walter Dapla acknowledged the service gaps and pointed to system limitations and distribution issues as contributing factors. He said coordination is ongoing with the Quezon Metropolitan Water District (MWD) to restore supply and stabilize operations.

“May mga kakulangan pa sa ating sistema kaya hindi naaabot nang maayos ang ilang lugar,” ani Dapla. “Nakikipag-ugnayan na tayo sa MWD upang maibalik ang maayos at tuloy-tuloy na suplay ng tubig.”

Meanwhile, infrastructure projects estimated at ₱195 million have been proposed for implementation in Pagbilao. The plan includes a 500-cubic meter steel tank, booster pump stations, deep wells, and expanded transmission and distribution lines.

The projects aim to improve supply capacity and service coverage in affected areas, but implementation depends on legal clearance tied to an existing joint venture. With summer demand expected to rise, delays could further strain already limited water supply in affected barangays.
