LUCENA CITY, Quezon - Quezon student-journalists joined CALABARZON’s championship run at the National Schools Press Conference 2026, helping deliver a top overall finish. Strong performances across writing, broadcasting, and multimedia contests ultimately secured the region’s dominance nationwide.
The competition drew wide participation from across the country, bringing together thousands of student-journalists. More than 3,400 delegates gathered in Ormoc City for the National Schools Press Conference 2026, underscoring the scale of participation this year.
Throughout the April 13 to 17 conference in Ormoc City, top campus journalists from different regions gathered for competition. Participants competed in individual and group categories covering writing, broadcasting, and multimedia production.
Results of the competition reflected the overall performance of regional delegations across multiple contest categories and divisions. Rankings were based on combined outcomes in both individual and group events across participating regions nationwide.
CALABARZON secured the No. 1 overall ranking among all participating regions in the national competition, according to Department of Education Philippines. It outperformed the National Capital Region and Region II in what was a closely contested field of strong contenders.
The region also placed second in the elementary overall division among competing regions nationwide. In secondary events, the region maintained a competitive standing with a fourth-place finish in overall rankings.
Quezon delegates, representing one of the key provinces in CALABARZON, contributed to the region’s overall medal haul. Official results are reported by region, while separate acknowledgments confirm that some winners are from Quezon.
In the elementary division, CALABARZON placed second overall among all participating regions nationwide. The region also secured second place in elementary individual contests, highlighting its depth in writing and reporting skills.
Attention then shifted to the secondary division, where results reflected a different set of regional strengths. Performance across categories showed how competition varied between levels in the national event.
Region II topped the secondary division at the national level of the competition among participating regions. CALABARZON finished fourth in the same category, remaining among the top-performing regions overall.
The conference carried the theme “Mapanuri, Mapanindigan, at Mapanagutang Pamamahayag” throughout the duration of the event. Department of Education Philippines said entries reflected critical, principled, and accountable journalism across different competition categories.
Educators and coaches attributed the region’s success to sustained training and editorial discipline among participants. They also pointed to strong collaboration among student journalists as a key factor behind the overall performance.
For Quezon participants, the achievement adds to the province’s growing presence in national-level academic competitions. It reinforces the province’s role in shaping a new generation of journalists ready to compete—and win—on the national stage.
