The Asian Business Forum North East was founded by Sunil Khanna in 2004. Sunil was the chairman up until 2009 but has now stepped down, however he is still on the committee and actively involved. The aim of the forum is to support Asian business talent and organisations in the region. Interacting with the North East Asian community helps to bring many benefits along with the opportunity to organise a diverse range of business and social events throughout the year.
An Exciting Social Evening

One such social event was arranged for business people across the region at the Premier Travel Inn, Newcastle. The Asian Business Forum annual dinner was held here where key members of the North East Business Community were brought together. Business people from all faiths including representatives from various professional services such as banks, accountancy and legal firms were able to enjoy a night of networking and entertainment. As well as the chance to network during the Asian Business Forum annual dinner, guests enjoyed:-
A drinks reception
A four course meal
Fashion show
Entertainment from Bollywood dancers

Sunil Khanna, chairman of the forum and owner of Medicentre Pharmacy said “it will be a wonderful evening for everyone and a great opportunity to network. Young and old members of the business community can share their experiences, views and advice while striking up new business relationships. The annual dinner will also be a good way to meet a lot of business people like solicitors and bankers which you might not have the chance to do normally”.
Going from Strength to Strength

The Asian Business Forum supports Asian businessmen and business women. It provides all with valuable business advice while helping with cultural and language barriers. The forum goes from strength to strength attracting talented people who are actively involved in promoting their community.

The Asian Business Forum is also supported by the National Asian Business Association. This provides Asian business owners in the North East with a business arena platform. It helps people to express their views on issues that affect their development within local and national government. This popular forum identifies where Asian North East businesses can be nurtured and grown in partnership agencies as well as the wider support network. Asian business owners can benefit from valuable advice on:-
Running a business
Helping the growth of businesses within the Asian community
Recognising how vibrant and important Asian businesses are
Providing closer working relationships with one another
Addressing banking needs
Understanding the value for Asian businesses in the North East
Forging links with business and government bodies
Encouraging young, talented, energetic people to contribute to the forum
Raising Awareness

One of the biggest goals of the Asian Business Forum is to raise awareness especially for small Asian businesses. Many such businesses are suffering at the hands of the economic downturn without realising that the Asian Business Forum can offer help. The forum’s committee are very keen to increase the number of social events and business workshops. More plans are afoot to focus on looking at specific industries such as the pharmaceutical and technology sectors. This will help to attract more Asian businessmen, business women and entrepreneurs.

The success of the North East economy is dependent on collaboration and partnerships with forums like the Asian Business Forum.
Founder

As the President and former Chairman, Sunil Khanna welcomes contributions and investment in helping to take this innovative organisation forward. Although Sunil stepped down in 2009 as Chairman, he is still on the Asian Business Forum Committee.

As a gateway for businesses and supporting organisations in the region, the Asian Business Forum is also used to interact with the Asian community. This platform provides many benefits such as arranging numerous business and social events throughout the year.
