1. Working Out Makes You Happier

There have been numerous studies between working out and happiness – and they have shown that there is an undeniable link between increased happiness and working out. This is not to say if you don't exercise you won't be happy, because you certainly can be, but it is saying that exercise may boost your happiness even more. Studies show exercise can improve your sleep patterns and help you fall asleep if you are an insomniac. It was also shown in a study on rats that exercise was shown to work like an anti-depressant on rats and exercise is responsible for creating new brain cells in the learning and memory area of your brain. Also, exercise boosts your immune system and the release of a chemical called endorphins. If you exercise outside in the sun, you will also be getting vitamin D from the sun, which has been linked to well-being. All these effects have been proven to boost happiness.

2. Working Out Makes Your Body Stronger (inside and out)

Inside your body, you have something called antibodies. Exercise actually increases the production of these, and they are a unique protein that your immune system creates. When all is working properly, antibodies arrive shortly after antigens where viruses and bacteria – are found in your body. The antibodies find them and attach to the antigens. Once they are binded, the immune systems "killer cells" (also known as T-cells) come and get rid of the antigens. More antibodies = a healthier body. Antibody production has been reported to have a 300% increase in those who exercise. Antibodies also stay around in your body after they are created just in case the antigen that they were fighting appears again. Not only that, but antibodies also help create other cells. Working out makes you happier, and happier individuals get sick less often than unhappy individuals. With high stress levels you can be more prone to falling ill, and a higher chance stroke and diabetes.

3. Working Out Creates “Feel-Good” Chemicals in Your Brain

Exercise boosts the production of a chemical called endorphins. Endorphins are chemicals that relieve your body of feeling pain and instead rush your senses with good feelings, to keep you safe. Research has shown that endorphins have the capacity to make you feel great.

When you engage in activities such as eating food, having sex, or feeling pain something in your body called the hypothalamus recruits endorphins in your body, and cells that contain endorphins respond. Endorphins lock onto certain receptor cells that go by the name of opioid receptors and they block the transmission of pain signals and instead produce a feeling of euphoria. Endorphins may act as a pain killer – for example, if you trip and fall, endorphins will come rushing in and make you feel less pain.. Endorphins can also fire off from eating a delicious meal, talking to your crush, or doing something adventurous. Endorphins fire off and let your body know that it has had enough and that the activity you were doing was good, and that it should be done again another time.

4. Exercise Makes You More Confident

Confidence can change your life – instead of taking a passive approach to life, one without taking any risk, confidence can give you the fuel you need to improve any aspect of your life. Good for you, studies have shown that exercise has been shown to boost confidence. Exercise is obviously going to make you look better, which will diminish body image issues and low self-esteem. If you aren't happy with the way you look, you can be excessively negative towards yourself and that can alter your way of thinking and actions. When you are happy about the way you look, you tend to make better decisions. Exercise also boosts your confidence because of the physical and mental strength it will give you. When you have a goal (example – lift this 25 pound dumbbell) and you do it, your mind will become stronger because you have achieved a goal you have set your mind to. The more you progress in working out, the more physical strength and mental strength you will acquire. Exercise has also been proven to make you smarter. When you are smarter, this in turn boosts your confidence even more.
