PIA-4A holds ASEAN youth and multisectoral forum in Atimonan

ATIMONAN, Quezon -- Around 500 students from different high schools & colleges of this municipality attended the ASEAN youth forum at Balagtas Sports Complex, this town today, 15 November from 1:30 PM to 5:00 PM.

The event was organized by the Philippine Information Agency-Quezon & Region-4A in cooperation with the municipal government of Atimonan under the leadership of Mayor Rustico Joven Mendoza and Department of Education (DepEd-Atimonan) which aims to promote and increase the level of awareness of the students on ASEAN integration benefits.

PIA-4A assistant regional director Carlo Gonzaga discussed the overview of the forum.

Speakers who discussed about the ASEAN integration include Caroline Zabella, administrative officer of the Department of Foreign Affairs- Lucena City who discussed– “The Philippine Chairmanship of ASEAN 2017”; Eric Oliveros of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)-Quezon provincial office who tackled the role of DTI in the promotion and realization in the ASEAN integration.

PCINSP Margarito Umali, deputy chief, POPB, PNP-Quezon on the other hand talked about “The PNP program to curb drug addiction in the Philippines and in ASEAN region”.

There is also an open forum to answer the questions of the students on ASEAN integration benefits.

On 17 November 2017 from 8:30 AM to 12:00 N.N, the PIA-Region-4A will hold an ASEAN multisectoral forum at Barangay Tagbakin Covered Court, Atimonan, Quezon with the same resource speakers and objectives which will be attended by officers and members of different sectors.

The event is in line also with the 50th ASEAN founding anniversary where the Philippines is hosting the chairmanship. (GG/Ruel Orinday-PIA- Quezon)
