Department of Health – CALABARZON (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon) today announced that all government hospitals and health facilities in the region will remain in Code White Alert due to the continuing heavy rainfall and inclement weather brought about by the southwest monsoon (habagat)” as reported by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Service Administration (PAG-ASA).

“We have extended the alert due to the series of heavy rainfall in the provinces of Rizal, Cavite, and Batangas due to the continuous downfall of heavy rains.” Regional Director Eduardo C. Janairo stated.

“I advised all residents living in low lying areas and near mountainous slopes of the aforementioned areas should take precautionary measures against possible flash floods and landslides,” he added.

As of June 12, 2018, the DOH-CALABARZON Regional Disaster Risk Reduction & Management in Health Unit (DRRM-H) recorded 52 total evacuees (Male:26, Female: 26, PWD:2, Senior citizen: 6, Pregnant: 1) in Calatagan, Batangas; 6 families (30 individuals) were evacuated at Nasugbu Auditorium in Nasugbu, Batangas; four (4) households affected by waist-high flood in Sitio Bagbag, Brgy. Prenza, Lian, Batangas.

According to Director Janairo, there were only 3 families currently staying at the auditorium while 2 families were evacuated at Church of Mormons, Brgy. Poblacion 3 in Nasugbu, Batangas and three (3) additional barangays with flooding incidents were reported at Barangays Binubusan, Kapito, and Poblacion in Lian, Batangas as of June 13, 2018.

The Code White Alert was activated on June 9, 2018 due to Tropical Storm DOMENG and the has been monitoring incidents/events related to the effects of the typhoon even after it exited the country on June 10, 2018.

A Code White Alert places all hospitals and health facilities staff like general and orthopedic surgeons, anesthesiologists, internists, operating room nurses, ophthalmologists, and otorhinolaryngologists, in readiness to respond to any emergency situation or health-related incidents that may occur.

The province of Batangas is still in Orange Warning Level due to heavy rains that may cause floods in the area. According to PAG-ASA, the orange warning or orange rainfall advisory is issued when rains cause flooding in low-lying areas and communities are advised to be alert for the possibility of evacuation.

“We are continuously monitoring any untoward incidents and ready to provide assistance needed by residents, especially those in evacuation centers,” Director Janairo emphasized.

There were no casualties reported in CALABARZON.
