Tayabas City - The Department of Education (DepEd) Division of Tayabas reiterated that the “no collection” policy is in effect in all public schools.

In a MANCOM held last February 18 at Queen Margareth Court, Dr. Catherine P. Talavera, Tayabas Schools Division Superintendent, reminded school heads that schools are not allowed to collect fees especially this graduation season.

Talavera said graduation expenses are chargeable against the Maintenance and Other Operating Expenses (MOOE) funds of schools. “Graduation rites should be simple but meaningful without excessive spending, extravagant attire or extraordinary venue,” she added.

She also reiterated that aspiring politicians and candidates in the May elections should not be invited at graduation. Although there is no specific regulation barring politicians from becoming guest speakers at graduation and commencement ceremonies, they should not use these events to talk politics.
