Filipinos: We should not let the Chinese fish from the West Philippine Sea. We need to protect our sovereignity.

Sen. Sotto: Why not? The fishes they caught could’ve swam from China to our seas.

Filipinos: Sen. Sotto always trends for the dumbest reason. Did Sen. Sotto say this as a senator or as a noon time show host?

Sen. Sotto: My responses re WPS were done with “tongue in cheek. I’m tired of talking about it.

How would you know if the fish is “technically” from China or Philippines? To clarify, I am not castigating you Sen. Tito Sotto for your remarks or with your predicament in determining the nationality of fishes found in our territorial waters including lakes and rivers. Let me just enlighten you. The main thing here is CHINESE FISHERMEN should not interfere or invade our exclusive economic zone (EEZ) and should not consume our rich marine biodiversity.

I am not for Charter Change but I am for reforming the present 1987 Constitution to be exact to cure it of its defective provisions like in political and economic provisions and to set them right in making the Philippines better and in providing the seeds of a genuine democracy for all. And its national territory provision must be re-defined as to make part of our territory, areas we claim in either legal and historic right like West Philippine Sea and Sabah.

There are many good provisions like EEZ concept, the Bill of Rights, etc. But, at the same time, I am of the view that such Constitution, as it is the highest law of the land, must be followed strictly by our political leaders, starting with the President to ensure that they govern the country properly and to defend our national sovereignty and territorial integrity well and proper. After all, they took an oath to preserve and defend it.

Philippines is our homeland, and the China is the world’s troublemaker. We have always hoped for peace and national stability while China has been trying to take stuff by force and provoking wars. China is wanting to control the world and everyone knows it.

On the part of Sotto. it was really highly inappropriate for a senator to say something like that. Please respect the sovereignty of the Philippines. A country’s sovereignty should not be messed with. It is a line drawn in blood.
