LUCENA CITY - Another suspected drug pusher was killed in a shootout with police operatives who were conducting a drug buy- bust at Purok Masagana, Brgy. Ibabang Iyam, here, on Tuesday.

Quezon police director, Col. Audie Madrideo said suspect Arnold Garcia Bathan @ Buboy, 42, of said village suffered fatal gunshot wounds and died instantly.

He said the shooting was triggered by the suspect’s strong resistance when he was about to be collared by the operating policemen of Lucena City police station under Lt. Col. Reydante Ariza.

Prior to this, Ariza said the suspect was having drinking spree with a companion at around 5:00 p.m. when the police operative who acted as poseur buyer arrived.

He said the two then made a transaction on the other side of the street where the cop managed to buy 0.30 grams of shabu from the suspect in exchange for a marked P500.

But right after the sale, Ariza said the suspect quickly sensed that he was dealing with a cop prompting him to run back toward the place where they were having a drinking spree and took his cal. 38 revolver from a blue sling bag placed over the said table and subsequently opened fired at the pursuing lawman.

This, he said, prompted the back-up cop to shoot back inflicting fatal wounds on the suspect who died on the spot.

Elements of Quezon Provincial Crime Laboratory Office processed the crime scene on requests of the city police.
