Quezon bags award for Quality Nutrition Program

MANILA - The best local government units, leaders and nutrition workers in Quezon Province were awarded and recognized for their exemplary performance and selfless dedication in nutrition program management and delivery of nutrition services during the 2019 CALABARZON Regional Nutrition Awarding Ceremony held at Acacia Hotel Manila, Alabang Muntinlupa City, October 23, 2019.

More than 250 VIPs, awardees and guests from all over the region participated in this year’s recognition rites.

The award were given based from the findings and results from the Monitoring and Evaluation of Local Level Plan of Implementation (MELLPI) conducted by the National Nutrition Council (NNC) Region IV-A. The MELLPI aims to assess the efficiency and effectiveness of local government units in planning and implementing local nutrition programs.

According to Assistant Regional Director Paula Paz M. Sydiongco, the efficient and effective implementation of the nutrition program not only resulted to sustained reduction of malnutrition among the children in the community but has also given honor and prestige to best performing LGUs.

Quezon Province through its Provincial Nutrition Multi-sectoral Council (PNMC) were bestowed with the Certificate for Quality Nutrition Program (QNP) for being on track on nutrition program implementation as indicated by its overall Very Satisfactory compliance of 2018 nutrition standards.

In addition, seven municipalities in Quezon Province namely; Agdangan, Atimonan, Buenavista, Mauban, Plaridel, Real, Sariaya and the City of Tayabas were also awarded with the Certificate of Quality Nutrition Program.

Former Governor of Quezon Province now Congressman David C. Suarez received the exclusive Award of Merit for being a CALABARZON Nutrition Champion in recognition of his efforts and commitment in the implementation of the First 1000 Days Program thru the Provinces’ local sort, the Quezon’s First 1000 Days of Life (Q1K) Program.

Q1K program is the first program in the country to champion maternal and child health with its distinct three major components namely; Health and Sanitation, Food and Nutrition and Social care.

Meanwhile, Mr. Roberto D. Gajo, Provincial Administrator and Provincial Nutrition Action Officer of Quezon Province, bagged the award for the 2018 Regional Outstanding Provincial Nutrition Action Officer in CALABARZON Region.

On the other hand, all the awards were conferred by Executive Director of National Nutrition Council Dir. Azucena M. Dayanghirang, Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator of NNC IV-A, Ms. Carina Z. Santiago and Assistant Regional Director Paula Paz M. Sydiongco from the Center for Health Development IV-A. (Quezon-PIO)
