LUCENA CITY - Forty seven suspected drug pushers were killed while P8, 574, 570.20 worth of illegal drugs were seized by the city police force during armed encounter from Junuary 1 to December 31 last year, police officials reported.

Of the 267 police operation, 326 drug suspects were arrested and charged with violations of Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002, said Lt. Col. Romulo Albacea, the City police chief, in an annual accomplishment report he submitted to City Mayor Roderick 'Dondon' Alcala.

Albacea said the amount is equivalent to 1664. 35493 grams of shabu and 4596.283850 grams of dried marijuana leaves that were separately confiscated by police operatives from the slain and arrested drug suspects. In the campaign against illegal gambling, Albacea said 131 persons were arrested while P36, 845.00 cash was confiscated in 60 anti- gambling operation. In the City police' continuing drive against wanted persons, he reported the arrest of 13 most wanted felons and 108 other wanted person.

As to the campaign against loose firearms and bladed weapons, 34 persons were arrested resulting to the seizure of 15 firearms and 20 bladed weapons.

In the anti- carnapping drive, Albacea said 6 persons were arrested.

While in the campaign on child abuse and violence against women and their children, 29 persons were arrested and charged before the City Prosecutor's Office.

Upon receiving the accomplishment report Mayor Alcala commended Albacea and his men for doing their job well.

The mayor assured Albacea that the city government under his leadership will continue to extend all necessary assistance to the city police in order to strenthen its force against criminality and to be more effective in the maintainance of peace and order.
