CAVITE PROVINCE РCavite is one of the provinces affected by the African Swine Fever (ASF) epidemic which afflicted more than 500 hog raisers in the province with confirmed cases in the cities of Bacoor, Dasmari̱as, Imus and Gen. Trias.

Prompted by the situation, Governor Jonvic Remulla sought the aid of the legislative body for the passage of Sangguniang Panlalawigan Resolution No. 1352-2019 which declared the province under the State of Calamity on November 13, 2019 and authorized the release of funds to address the ASF and mitigate its impact.

The fund amounting to more than P11M was recently distributed as financial assistance to small hog raisers affected by the calamity computed based on the number of pigs affected equivalent to Php 2,000 each.

Last Tuesday, February 11, the distribution of financial assistance began with the first batch of 106 beneficiaries from the city of Bacoor and on February 12, in the folowing cities: Imus with 32 hog raiser beneficiaries; Dasmariñas, 273; and Gen. Trias, 114.

The Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) and Provincial Treasurer’s Office led the distribution of financial assistance in coordination with the local and veterinary offices, Disaster Risk Reduction and Management and City Social Welfare offices.
