The merry month of May is a season for celebrations of fiestas, flower and coconut festivals, holding of the traditional San Isidro Pahiyas, Parada ng mga Sagala, and other joyful events which attract many tourists, both local and foreign.

Although the country is now under General Community Quarantine (GCQ) except for Metro Manila, Laguna, and Cebu which are still under Modified Enhanced community Quarantine (MECQ), it will never be the same again.

"Matagal pa, mahabang panahon pa ang hihintayin natin bago mabalik sa tunay na normal ang ating kalagayo", a 68-year old publisher of a local weekly newspaper told Eagle's Eye.

COVID-19 is a global pandemic, an enemy which no one has ever known; no one has ever seen. And until now, no weapon (vaccine) to stop it has ever been discovered.

ONLY GOD KNOWS.
ONLY GOD CAN WIPE IT OUT.

One day a neighbor came, asking for some bread.

Wala raw sila food. Wala mabilhan, close ang store. At wala rin pambilio. NO MONEY.

NO WORK, NO PAY.
Then she saw our cassava plant.

"Yon, pwede hukayin ko? Me laman na iyan?,"she asked

"Ok. Come, tulungan kita," I answered her.

And wow! Ang daming laman. You know cassava, or balinghoy? Ka-family ito ng camote, gabi the nutritious root crops.

She then gave me some.

"Thank you, mare. Meron na kaming pagkain - hapunan at almusal bakas," she told me.

Cassava for dinner and breakfast? Why not. So I cooked my cassava, boiled it with some sugar. I made myself a cup of coffee and had sweet cassava for my 3pm snack.

Delicious, at nakakabusog. While drinking a glass of water after the cassava merienda, a lot of things came flashing on my mind the-things that happened since day one of COVID-19 and the LOCKDOWN.

Protocols, ptocols, rules, regulations, checkpoints, etc..., should be followed.

IT IS BETTER PALA AT MAS MASAYA at Home with the FAMILY kesa maglakwatsa o tumambay sa mga malls.

No work no pay, No MONEY to BUY THE NEEDS particularly food. Walang ulam?

Kailangan tipirin.

PWEDE PALANG MAGTIPID. DISKARTE LANG.

Relief operations. The Famous' Pinoy BAYANIHAN still lives - alive and kicking.

Ok pala to.

Always WASH your hands. Keep yourselp clean. Keep the house and the surroundings clean. Aba, naging MASIPAG ang lahat. Ok 'yan.

Face mask. Social distancing. Bawal mass gathering, even going to church to attend mass, wala.

Naging simple ang pamumuhay with God at the center of family life.

MAY BUKAS PA.

A person is always as strong as he wants to be.

They are the lessons learned from COVID- 19. Ang dami pala. It's the other side of the pandemic.
