BACOOR CITY, Cavite - The city government here through the Bacoor Tourism Office assisted 14 residents to return home after being stranded for several months in the different provinces in the country due to the declaration of enhanced community quarantine (ECQ).
Out of the 14 stranded domestic tourists from Bacoor, about 12 were stranded in Cebu while two stayed in Palawan.
They arrived safely at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) where they were immediately subjected to COVID-19 rapid testing which resulted negative of the virus. They are now under the 14-day home quarantine and being monitored by the Barangay Health Emergency Response Team (BHERT) in their respective barangays.
Meanwhile, five Bacooreño balikbayans from Canada who were also caught up in the ECQ were able to return home on May 4, 2020.
The safe return of the stranded domestic tourists and even of balikbayans is part of the local government's program upon the directives of Mayor Lani Mercado-Revilla thru the Bacoor Tourism Office headed by Edwin Guinto and the City PESO with led by Dr. Abraham de Castro in coordination with the Department of Tourism.
There were several batches of Bacooreño returnees that had been assisted by the local government since the start of May 2020. (Ruel Francisco, PIA-Cavite with reports from the official FB page of Bacoor Tourism Office)
