Batangas City designates lanes for bicycle

BATANGAS CITY - Bicycle lanes are designated in this city for the public who use bicycles as transportation in accordance with the new ordinance passed by the Batangas City Council, the Batangas City Bicycle Ordinance.

Bicycles became a major use under the enhanced community quarantine and even now the city is in the general community quarantine due to the lack of public transportation commuting throughout the city.





Accordingly, pursuant to point (a) of Section 8 of Ordinance No. 12, designated bicycle lanes that can be used on major city streets have been established. It was later called Bicycle Designated Lanes, Rights, Duties, and Obligations of Bicycle Commuters or Riders.

The following areas are designated bicycle lanes: All persons who will be from Brgy. Concepcion, Mahabang Parang, Soro-Soro, Balete, Balagtas, Alangilan at Kumintang going to Poblacion, can use the right side of the national highway from Brgy. Balagtas going to Brgy. Kumintang, left in BIR Road, right in P. Herrera, right in Noble St., left if Lt. Col. Atienza St., right in C. Tirona, left in P. Dandan St. right in P. Panganiban St., left in P. Burgos St., right in MH Del Pilar St., right in D. Silang St., left in P. Herrera St., straight on Tolentino Road to the national highway back to their origin.





For those coming from Brgy. Dagatan, Sico, Bilogo, Paharang, Tulo, Sampaga, Pallocan and Gulod going to Poblacion, can use the right side of the national highway from Gov. Carpio Road left in Batangas-Tabangao-Lobo road, right to Pastor Road going to EDB Bridge of Progress straight to Ferry Road right in P. Herrera St. right to Noble St., left in Col. Atienza St., right in C. Tirona St., left in P. Dandan St., right in P. Panganiban St., left in P. Burgos St., right in MH del Pilar, right in D. Silang, left in P. Herrera right in Ferry Road going to EBD Bridge of Progress straight to Gov. Carpio Road back to their point of origin.

Meanwhile, bicyclists from Brgy. Sta. Rita at Bolbok going to Poblacion, can use the right side of the national highway from PPA Road, left in DJPMM Access Road No. 2, left in Rizal Avenue, left in D. Silang St., right in Lt. Col. Atienza St., right in C. Tirona St., left in P. Dandan St.right in P. Panganiban, left in P. Burgos St., right in MH Del Pilar St. right in D. Silang St., left in Rizal Avenue right in DJPMM Access Road No. 2 going to PPA Road going to Bolbok left in national highway ng Bolbok at Sta. Rita back to their point of origin.

The bicycle route may have a revision or adjustment based on the recommendation of the Traffic Development and Regulation Office (TDRO) and the approval of the City.

Most Batangueno currently use bicycles to get to work especially the tricycle charge increase which is the main form of transportation today in the city. Although some jeepneys are commuting, this is still not enough for the number of passengers who have to undergo the skeletal workforce in their offices or companies.
