CALAMBA CITY, Laguna — The provincial government has intensified its efforts to prevent the spread of infectious diseases due to the ongoing outbreak of coronavirus disease in the province of Laguna in 2019 (COVID-19).

During a meeting between the Laguna Task Force Against COVID-19 and the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, Governor Ramil Hernández instructed the agencies concerned to step up their actions.

In a statement, the governor stated on his official Facebook page that he had directed the City Health Offices of cities with a high number of COVID 19 to effectively communicate with manufacturing companies that had reported cases and to provide recommendations and steps to prevent them from transmitting the disease.

This is also to ensure that they comply with the rules of the Inter Agency Task Force and the Philippine Economic Zone Authority.

It also strongly instructed the Laguna Philippine National Police to carry out a 'random check' on shuttle busses to pick up and deliver workers to the province to ensure that they complied with the rules.

The governor also said that at the next meeting he would ask for clarification from the mayors and municipal mayors who had recorded high cases of COVID-19.

Meanwhile, Gov. Hernandez said the provincial government would do its utmost to address the problems caused by the rising COVID-19 case in the province.

Gov. Hernandez advised its residents to be alert and to continue to follow minimum safety guidelines to avoid the spread of COVID-19.

Hernandez stated.

Based on the data released by the Laguna Provincial Health Office, the number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the province has reached 2,663 of which 1,239 have been recovered while 97 have been reported dead. (with report from FSC)
