BATANGAS CITY - The Provincial Incident Management Team (PIMT) for Taal Volcano Eruption was formally demobilized on July 26, 2021, during an online close-out meeting. This came after PHIVOLCS reduced the volcano's alert status from Alert 3 to Alert 2 and ensured that the affected areas in Batangas were in order.

It will be recalled that PIMT was immediately enabled, based on the directive of Gov. DoDo Mandanas, for more effective and 24 hour incident management and impending disaster response.



The meeting was attended by Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer (PDRRMO) Lito Castro, who extended his gratitude on behalf of Gov. Mandanas.

The PIMT Incident Commanders, who include the Philippine National Police (PNP) Batangas Provincial Director, PCol. Glicerio Cansilao; Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Batangas Provincial Director, CInsp. Jeff Atienza; Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Batangas Capt Geronimo Tuvilla; Philippine Air Force (PAF) 730th Combat Group Commander, LtCol. Arvin DC Nunez; Provincial Health Office (PHO) Assistant Department Head, Dr. Rosalie Masangkay; and Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) Representative Imelda Salcedo, rejoicing in the smooth implementation of the Incident Command System (ICS) which has helped in better coordination, resource management and response operations.



PIMT includes unified provincial government departments and other government agencies, such as PNP, PCG, PAF, BFP, PHO, PSWDO and PDRRMO, as Unified Area Commanders, and Philippine Red Cross, Provincial Information Office, Department of Public Works and Highways, Provincial Cooperative Livelihood and Enterprise Development Office, Provincial Agriculture Office and Provincial Engineering Office as Command and General Staff.

Immediate surveillance and assistance by search, rescue and retrieval teams along the coasts and terrain; and, security, transport and clearing teams at evacuations centers, disaster control points and affected areas.



It also provided immediate medical assistance, such as vaccinations, medical consultations, distribution of medicines and vitamins, ongoing antigen testing, water testing, misting, disinfection, health education, food delivery and family kits, and preparation and provision of necessary supplies. logistics for PIMT operations.

PIMT's additional task was to respond to the needs of those affected by Habagat, which was strengthened by Typhoon Fabian.

While praying to avoid possible disasters in the province, all PIMT agencies have unanimously expressed their readiness and reunification in case their participation in the response is needed again.

According to PDRRMO Assistant Department Head and designated PIMT Spokesperson Fe Fernandez, the government is focusing on possible disasters, and with the guidance of the Lord and collective action, it is the prayer of every Batangueño to be safe and overcome all the passing trials.
