BATANGAS CITY - "A more intensive COVID -19 vaccination program is needed." This was the statement of Gov. Hermilando Mandanas in his interview on the program “Rundown” on ABS-CBN News Channel recently.

He stated that it is critical to address and prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the province of Batangas.

The number of positive COVID-19 cases in Batangas increased slightly in accordance with the increase in neighboring provinces. The province recorded 57 new cases in the week before Christmas, bringing the total to 431 cases before the new year.

There have been no restrictions imposed on Batanguenong who have not yet been vaccinated, but strict adherence to the guidelines established by the Inter-Agency Task Force Against COVID-19 and the Department of Health against pandemic is still in place.

The National Capital Region or Metro Manila returned to a tighter Alert Level 3 on January 3 after a resurgence of positives, due to the Omicron variant. This is what the governor is trying to prevent from happening throughout Batangas, especially and the neighboring provinces of Cavite, Laguna and Rizal have also been placed under Alert Level 3.

Gov. Mandanas thanked to the national government for an adequate ration of COVID-19 vaccine in the province which is the reason why CALABARZON is among the leaders when it comes to vaccination program in the country. Booster shots are also being provided at various vaccination centers in the province.

The governor also called for continued adherence to the health and safety protocol of Cleansing, Prevention, Mask, and Vaccination. (with report Vinson De Chavez - Batangas Capitol PIO)
