Counterfeit drugs, confiscate in Laguna

CALAMBA, Laguna - Authorities recently seized counterfeit drugs in Laguna province.

According to the State of the Nation report, authorities seized several boxes containing counterfeit paracetamol and other types of drugs from a couple.

In this regard, the couple selling the counterfeit drug was unable to file the necessary documentation proving their status as authorized sellers.

Samples of the drugs have been brought to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) office for examination while the suspects remain silent.

Unilab Inc has warned the public against the spread of counterfeit drugs, advising them to buy only from reputable pharmacies during peak demand. Unilab has also released a quick guide to distinguishing between genuine and counterfeit medicine.

In the midst of the pandemic, the sale of counterfeit drugs on social media is rampant.

Buying and consuming counterfeit medicine can be detrimental to your health because there is no assurance that its Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) is correct and adequate, and if it has gone through a thorough process.

To be safe, it is a good idea to buy only from legitimate pharmacies and Registered Pharmacists near you.
