LOS BAÑOS, Laguna - To strengthen the country's agricultural sector, the Department of Agriculture (DA) has strengthened its relationships with the Institute of Plant Breeding (IPB) and the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB).

Recently signed by DA Secretary William Dar, Usec. Leocardio Sebastian, UPLB Chancellor Jose V. Camacho, and IPB Director Fe M. Dela Cueva signed their Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for Continuing Seed Support for the National Crop Programs that aims to continue their collaboration to promote programs that will help reduce the problem facing such a sector.

According to Secretary Dar, the technology and science developed by institutions such as UPLB and IPB have made a significant contribution to the agricultural sector's continued development.

The secretary also believes that the funds allocated by the agency will ensure better and higher agricultural product production, which will contribute to the country's hoped-for food security.

As part of the program, the IPB Seeds and Plants Turnover Ceremony was also held under Bayanihan II witnessed by the staff of the University and IPB. (with reports from MO, PIA Laguna)
