DOH Calabarzon readies ‘navigators’ of health for deployment to communities

The Department of Health Center for Health Development – Calabarzon recently concluded its pre-deployment orientation for health workers hired under the Human Resources for Health (HRH) Deployment Program to boost the delivery of quality health services in the region.

Said orientation highlighted the roles of doctors, nurses, medical technologists, pharmacists, nutritionists, dentists, and midwives who will support the fulfillment of the Universal Health Care Law objectives and the ongoing immunization programs.

Regional Director Ariel I. Valencia cited the urgency of a much more robust health workforce for implementing public health and improving delivery service networks in the community to ensure the success of the UHC amid the ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic.

He also emphasized their role as communicators in the community, especially in the areas with low vaccine and booster coverage.

As part of the National COVID-19 Vaccine Deployment and Vaccination Program, the National Government sought to mobilize all workforce and logistics to facilitate the vaccination of eligible individuals who remain unvaccinated despite the adequate supply of COVID-19 vaccines.

The HRH personnel will be assigned to rural health units to fill in the need for health staff, primarily in the marginalized and underserved areas and Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDAs).

A total of 171 health workers under the HRH program are currently serving under the Contract with Appointment (CWA) status from January to December. — DOH CHD 4-A
