LUCENA CITY - To ensure that underprivileged students graduate from college, the Quezon province governor has launched new educational initiatives as part of her "healing agenda."

This is after the Sagguniang Panlalawigan (SP) approved the ordinance for Governor Doctor Angelina Tan's educational program, dubbed "One Family, One Graduate Scholarship Program," at its recent 35th regular meeting.

Governor Tan's main goal is for every family in the province of Quezon to have at least one member who has finished college, even if they can't afford to send all of their children to school.

The One Family, One Graduate Scholarship Program is a significant step towards achieving the governor's vision of a more educated Quezonian. With the mentoring and career development programs, graduates will be equipped with the necessary skills to contribute to the province's economic growth.

The provincial government seeks to promote social justice by expanding access to quality education and opportunities for poor individuals. Because the governor believes that if a member of the family can graduate from college, it can help to educate his other siblings and help improve their family's life.

Under this program, the provincial government will help students who have done well in school but don't have enough money to pay for their education.

The students receive full scholarships covering the free tuition and other school fees; allowance for books, supplies and school equipment, clothing or uniform allowance, Allowance for accommodation in dormitory or boarding house; Transportation allowance, and other miscellaneous study-related expenses.

Some board members made sure that the scholarship program could be used correctly before the ordinance was passed. It is said that it is important for the board and government to work together to ensure that the scholarship program is implemented fairly and efficiently.

This law was brought to the Education Committee, which is led by Hon. Claro M. Talaga from the 1st District. The chair of the SP Quezon Education Committee promised the board and government that when rules and regulations are put into place, the board and government will think about how they will help every student in need.

Talaga promised that the board and the provincial government would make sure it helped every student in need. He also emphasized the need for transparency and accountability in the implementation of the scholarship program to avoid any form of corruption or favoritism.

"The Sangguniang Panlalawigan deliberated on this ordinance during the regular session, and before it was approved, it was subjected to various questions from other members of the legislative body regarding the scope of such scholarships in order to make its implementation more orderly. Which, in the end, was also approved with changes." Talaga said.

Meanwhile, Quezon 2nd District Board Member Atty. Ferdinand Talabong discussed the SP ordinance requiring a permit or clearance for city public projects.

Talabong and Talaga both agreed that this will have a big effect on the people and government of Quezon, so they suggested holding a meeting with the Provincial Legal Officer and the Municipal Legal Officer to make sure the ordinance's scope is carried out smoothly.

On the other hand, Quezon Vice Governor Anacleto Alcala III, the Presiding Officer of SP Quezon, stated that this program has rules and regulations.

"The guidelines and amendments are the implementing rules and regulations because the ordinance is very generic and only what is written there requires you to be from Quezon; it is necessary for one of the family members not to have graduated; it is necessary to be indigent; it is necessary to have a maintaining grade," he said.

The resolution for the supplemental annual investment plan (AIP) and annual work plan (AWP) for the Department of Energy's (DOE) Energy Regulations (ER) funds this year, which are planned to be spent on livelihood programs, medicines, and other health equipment, were also approved.
