San Pedro's Alay Lakad generally peaceful; raises P2.5 million for schools

SAN PEDRO, Laguna - With the participation of hundreds of people, the recent annual Alay Lakad event in San Pedro successfully raised an impressive amount of P2.5 million for local schools. The event, known for its peaceful and harmonious atmosphere, brought together community members from all walks of life to support education in the area.

The traditional penitential walk popularly called “Alay Lakad” spearheaded with the City Government of San Pedro, in partnership with the Rotary Club of Metro San Pedro, Rotary District 3820 Area 1 Group 1, and the San Pedro Chamber of Commerce with the theme, "Ituloy Ang Lakad Para Sa Kabataan" highlighted the importance of education in empowering the youth and building a brighter future for the community.



Participants walked through the streets, carrying banners and signs advocating for better educational opportunities while also raising funds through donations and sponsorships. The event successfully raised awareness about the need for continued support for local schools and inspired individuals to take action to improve education in their area.

Various schools, organizations, barangays, HOAs, private sectors, companies, City Hall employees, barangay officials, and city officials joined the said activity and accumulated 2.5 million pesos in donations, which will be allocated to programs for San Pedro youth education.

San Pedro Mayor Art Mercado expressed his gratitude to all the participants and emphasized the importance of collective efforts in ensuring a brighter future for the youth. He also added that the event was able to gather P2.5 million in donations, which would be used to fund initiatives for San Pedro youth education.
