LUCENA CITY, Quezon - As the Camp Nakar Station Hospital here rises to new heights with essential tools and technologies, the facility in Quezon Province now reports full equipment readiness following a significant donation from Therma Luzon, strengthening medical services for both AFP personnel and civilians as it works toward government accreditation. The official inauguration of this enhanced capability, dubbed "The Door into a World-Class Health Service" project, took place on April 30, 2025, at Camp Guillermo Nakar.
Therma Luzon, Inc. (TLI), a subsidiary of AboitizPower, has completed a three-year medical support program for the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) by donating essential equipment to the Health Service Center of the AFP’s Southern Luzon Command (Solcom) in Camp Nakar, Quezon. This initiative, the third in their collaborative history, underscores their sustained commitment to significantly improve healthcare quality and accessibility for the region's dedicated service members. Specifically, this endeavor directly addresses the healthcare needs of military personnel serving in Southern Luzon, ensuring they have access to improved medical resources.
he donation includes specialized tools for Obstetrics and Gynecology, Orthopedics, Pediatrics, and Emergency Medicine. These complement previous contributions from TLI, such as electrocardiogram units, defibrillators, and physical therapy devices. Modern and vital medical equipment, including advanced diagnostic tools and treatment facilities, alongside cutting-edge technology for patient management and care, will be delivered to the Camp Nakar Station Hospital. A substantial upgrade, it is designed to elevate the standard of medical care provided to the brave men and women stationed there, enhancing their well-being and ensuring prompt and effective treatment.
With these additions, Camp Nakar Station Hospital is now equipped to pursue Level 1 accreditation from the Department of Health (DOH). This accreditation, combined with a Level 2 diagnostic laboratory, qualifies the facility to serve both uniformed personnel and civilian residents in Quezon Province and surrounding areas.
Brigadier General Aldwine Almanse welcomed the upgrades as critical support for the armed forces. He stated, “This partnership with AboitizPower is more than just an upgrade of facilities — it is an investment in the health, morale, and resilience of our men and women in uniform.”
Camp Nakar Station Hospital Chief Col. Zabala emphasized that the facility is now fully prepared to respond to a broader range of medical needs. He declared, “The support of AboitizPower is invaluable, not only to the people of Quezon, but also the larger community of Southern Luzon. Because of this, Camp Nakar Station Hospital’s equipment readiness is now at 100% — all thanks to AboitizPower.”
The Health Service Center-Southern Luzon includes several key medical units, such as the Camp Nakar Station Hospital, a dental dispensary, and a veterinary dispensary. Together, they form a vital support structure for the AFP’s operations in the region.
AboitizPower’s Alyssa Mojar-Pereira, Senior Specialist for Reputation and Stakeholder Management, said the project reflects the company’s continued commitment to nation-building through strategic community support. “AboitizPower supports the health and well-being of our armed forces. We consider it very important in creating a nation that is stronger,” she said. “This project is an expression of our strong resolve in nation-building and to being a good corporate citizen of Pagbilao and the larger Quezon Province.”
According to TLI's Rupert Vito, RSM Operations Specialist, the project is more than just improved facilities and equipment. He emphasized it embodies a tangible "door of hope," offering reassurance and better health prospects for servicemen and women. Furthermore, it represents a "door into healing," providing necessary recovery resources. Vito stated the initiative fosters "an enduring legacy of compassion, resilience, and excellence" in healthcare services for those dedicated to national security.
The said project underscores their steadfast support for the individuals tirelessly serving and defending the nation, directly contributing to their overall well-being and acknowledging the profound importance of their health and dignity. This collaboration reflects a deep recognition of the vital role the AFP plays in national security and the significant sacrifices made by its personnel in the line of duty.
TLI, a thermal power plant in Quezon managed by TeaM Energy Corporation, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Aboitiz Power Corporation, spearheaded this project. With TLI's embarkation on full operational management of the Pagbilao Power Plant this year, the company is further deepening its commitment to its valued partners in service. Inspired by their existing strong relationship, TLI is more determined than ever to strengthen this vital collaboration with AFP SOLCOM. "The Door into a World-Class Health Service" project stands as a powerful testament to this ongoing dedication to the health and well-being of the AFP community.
Distinguished attendees at the turnover ceremony included key figures from AFP SOLCOM and AFP Medical Center: the esteemed Col. Nerio Zabala MC (GSC), and Col. Florencio Ritchie Capulong III MAC (GSC), who represented the respected BGen. Jonna D. Dalaguit MC, showcasing the high-level support within the military for this initiative. Also present was the honorable BGen. Aldwine Almase PA, acting on behalf of the esteemed LtGen. Facundo Palafox IV.
