LUCENA CITY, Quezon – The Quezon Metropolitan Water District (QMWD) has officially been recognized for its unwavering commitment to public health and safety, securing a Certificate of Water Safety Plan (WSP) Acceptance from the Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA). This significant achievement underscores QMWD's adherence to stringent national standards for water quality and delivery.
The certificate, a testament to QMWD's compliance with the requirements for acceptability pursuant to the Department of Health (DOH) Administrative Order No. 2017-006, was formally conferred by LWUA Administrator Jose Moises F. Salonga to QMWD General Manager, Maria Carina Pacita L. de Asis, on June 18, 2025.
While the formal conferment took place recently, the certification was originally issued on November 25, 2025, and remains valid until November 24, 2027. This two-year validity period signifies a sustained commitment to continuous monitoring and improvement of water safety, as QMWD must regularly demonstrate its ongoing compliance with the DOH's rigorous guidelines for drinking water service providers.
This accreditation serves as a clear manifestation of QMWD’s steadfast commitment to continuously improving water service delivery and ensuring that its constituents have access to safe and reliable water. The LWUA has extended its commendation to the district for its persistent dedication to excellence and its vital role in promoting community well-being.
The Water Safety Plan is a comprehensive risk assessment and management approach that encompasses all steps in water supply, from catchment to consumer, to ensure the safety of drinking water. QMWD's successful implementation and acceptance of its WSP highlight its proactive approach to safeguarding public health and maintaining high operational standards.
