LUCENA CITY, Quezon — Kapihan sa PIA Quezon marked its ninth anniversary on December 18, 2025, reaffirming the role of the Philippine Information Agency in Quezon as a platform for dialogue and information exchange. The Media Appreciation gathering was held at the 3rd Floor of Pacific Mall Lucena and brought together media practitioners, partner institutions, and stakeholders.

Launched in 2016, Kapihan sa PIA Quezon was designed as a regular media forum where government offices present programs, explain policies, and respond to questions from journalists. It serves as a space for clarification and feedback to help ensure accurate reporting and public understanding.

The program is held periodically in Quezon Province and features briefings from national and local government offices on current issues and services. Through these sessions, media partners relay verified information to communities across the province.

The anniversary gathering also served as a moment to look back on how the program adapted to changing information needs, including the shift to digital platforms and hybrid engagements. Participants noted that this flexibility helped maintain public access to verified information during periods of rapid change.

PIA Calabarzon Assistant Regional Head Fredmoore Cavan thanked media partners for their continued trust and participation. He said their support has been essential in expanding the reach of government information and improving public understanding of public programs and services.

“Sa loob ng siyam na taon, ang Kapihan sa PIA Quezon ay nanatiling bukas na espasyo para sa malinaw at tapat na palitan ng impormasyon. Malaki ang papel ng media sa pagdadala ng tamang impormasyon sa ating mga kababayan. Sa patuloy nating pagtutulungan, mas napapalapit natin ang pamahalaan sa mamamayan,” Cavan said.

Former PIA Quezon Information Center Manager Lito Giron, one of the pioneers of the program, reflected on its beginnings in 2016. He credited the consistency and commitment of media organizations for sustaining Kapihan sa PIA Quezon for nearly a decade.

“Hindi tatagal ang Kapihan sa PIA Quezon kung walang tiwala at pakikilahok ng media. Sama-sama nating binuo ang espasyo para sa bukas na talakayan at tamang impormasyon. Hangga’t may nagtatanong at nakikinig, magpapatuloy ang Kapihan,” Giron said.

Ruel Arinday, Information Center Manager of PIA Quezon, also shared reflections as he prepares to retire in the coming year after years of guiding the program’s growth. He said the continuity of Kapihan sa PIA Quezon rests on shared responsibility and trust among media partners.

“Ang Kapihan sa PIA Quezon ay hindi lang programa, kundi samahan na binuo sa tiwala at respeto. Masaya akong makita na nananatili ang layunin nito kahit magpalit man ng mga namumuno. Ang mahalaga ay magpatuloy ang bukas na usapan para sa tama at malinaw na impormasyon,” Arinday said.

Meanwhile, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Quezon highlighted Kapihan sa PIA as a practical platform for explaining surveys, censuses, and other statistical initiatives. Normita Pagkatipunan, Officer-in-Charge of PSA Quezon, said media partnerships help the public understand the role of data in policy and development planning.

Pacific Mall Lucena expressed its continued support for initiatives that promote meaningful dialogue and stronger community engagement. Marketing Assistant Charlotte Luarca, speaking on behalf of mall management, said the mall has remained a long-time venue partner of Kapihan sa PIA Quezon.

The program featured a musical performance and the awarding of certificates of appreciation to media partners and individuals who have consistently supported Kapihan sa PIA Quezon. PIA Quezon said the recognition highlighted the importance of collaboration in sustaining the program.

As preparations begin for the 10th anniversary next year, PIA Quezon said it remains committed to strengthening partnerships with the media and government offices. It added that Kapihan sa PIA Quezon will continue to serve as a reliable forum for information, dialogue, and public engagement in Quezon Province.
