LUCENA CITY, Quezon - Lucena City is celebrating a standout year after earning multiple honors at the 1st Regional Integrated Awarding of the Department of Health–Center for Health Development (DOH-CHD) IV-A CALABARZON. Earning major citywide recognition, the honors reflect the strength of the city’s public health initiatives led by the City Health Office under Dr. Jocelyn Chua.
This regional integrated awarding recognizes local governments for measurable progress in Universal Health Care and health system strengthening. Performance is assessed using indicators covering service delivery, health promotion, data compliance, and community-based programs.
Lucena City received several Gold Awards for its performance under Universal Health Care (UHC) implementation. Among these was recognition for achieving 70 percent functionality in the Local Health Systems Maturity Level, a national measure of system performance.
Additional Gold Awards cited Lucena City for attaining 90 percent of key performance areas through coordinated health promotion programs under UHC. Recognition was also given for implementing a Mother-Baby Friendly Workplace and registering the highest number of YAKAP-enrolled constituents within the target population.
Silver Awards were earned for the “Movement Against Malnutrition (MAMA)” program and 100 percent timely compliance with the Field Health Services Information System (FHSIS). Certificates of Recognition followed for a 223 percent blood collection accomplishment in 2024 and sustained commitment to the Regional Voluntary Blood Service Program.
