LUCENA CITY, Quezon — Governor Angelina Tan met with Education Secretary Sonny Angara to strengthen coordination on improving education services across the province, the governor’s office said Monday. The meeting centered on expanding cooperation between the Provincial Government of Quezon and the Department of Education (DepEd), particularly in addressing infrastructure gaps in public schools.

Programs involving the repair of existing school facilities and the construction of additional classrooms were among the priorities discussed during the meeting. Tan and Angara both underscored the importance of aligning national and local efforts to ensure that projects are implemented efficiently and reach underserved communities.

Classroom shortages continue to affect several public schools in Quezon and other parts of the country, showing an ongoing lack of classrooms and school facilities. Solving this problem requires steady coordination with national agencies to add more classrooms and keep up with the growing number of students.

Sonny Angara, for his part, reaffirmed DepEd’s commitment to accelerating the construction of new classrooms and reducing infrastructure backlogs nationwide. He said stronger coordination with local governments plays a crucial role in ensuring that education programs are delivered effectively.

Efforts to address gaps in school facilities and improve learning conditions remain ongoing in coordination with DepEd and local authorities. Sustained implementation of these initiatives is expected to result in more responsive education programs and better-equipped schools for Quezonian learners.
