TAYABAS CITY, Quezon — The summer season offers young people a valuable opportunity to learn new skills and develop their talents through meaningful activities. In Tayabas City, this opportunity comes through the 20-Day Free Summer Sports Clinic 2026 with a kick-off fun run at the New City Hall.

On April 12, the Office of the City Mayor launched the Summer Sports Clinic at the New City Hall in Barangay Baguio as part of youth development efforts. Residents, particularly the youth, joined the opening event in significant numbers across the community.

Implementation runs through the Physical Fitness and Sports Development Section of the city government to support organized sports initiatives. Sports Development Officer Sarah Zagala heads the initiative under the city’s continuing sports development programs.

Participants performed a Zumba session before the start of the run as part of the scheduled opening activities. The activity served as a warm-up for those who joined the event prior to the run proper.

A Fun Run formed part of the opening program with 1K, 3K, and 5K categories for participants from different age groups in the community. The event included runners from various age groups who joined the activity.

Free training is offered to youth across various sports disciplines in the city through organized sessions under the Summer Sports Clinic. The 20-day program is expected to benefit more youth through accessible training and structured activities.

The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office and the City Traffic Operations Section assisted during the event. They handled crowd control and managed traffic flow throughout the duration of the activity.

The local government of Tayabas encourages parents and youth to join similar activities in the community. These programs form part of the city’s continuing efforts to support community-based initiatives.
