POLILIO, Quezon - Entrepreneurship continues to provide livelihood opportunities for many young people looking to earn income and build a future in their communities. Programs focused on business skills and small enterprise development are also becoming more common in local areas.
In line with this effort, the local government of Polillo recently partnered with Department of Trade and Industry–Quezon to hold the three-day “Be Your Own Boss” Youth Entrepreneurship Program. The activity introduced attendees to the basics of starting and managing a small business.
Youth from different barangays joined the training and learned about possible business opportunities in their communities. Discussions also highlighted how entrepreneurship can serve as an additional source of income and livelihood.
During the first day of the program, Modules 1 to 8 covered business planning, money management, and other basic lessons on entrepreneurship. Workshops and group discussions were also held to help attendees understand the steps in starting a small business.
The second day focused on Modules 9 to 13, which discussed marketing, customer service, product promotion, and business operations. Sessions also tackled the importance of proper planning and management in keeping a business running.
Representatives from DTI Quezon and the Negosyo Center led the discussions and shared practical advice on entrepreneurship. Attendees were encouraged to develop business ideas that could help support their communities while creating livelihood opportunities.
The program is part of continuing efforts to expand entrepreneurship education in Polillo and encourage more aspiring entrepreneurs to explore small business opportunities. Similar activities are expected to continue as part of local youth development and livelihood programs in the municipality.
