TAYABAS CITY, Quezon - Months of technical reviews, cybersecurity testing and system validation culminated Monday in a landmark agreement at the New Tayabas City Hall. The Philippine Statistics Authority and the City Government of Tayabas signed the agreement, making Tayabas the first local government unit in CALABARZON to integrate the National ID Authentication Service (NIDAS) into its digital platform.

Residents can now verify their identities through National ID credentials when registering and accessing services on the Tayabazen Digital Platform instead of undergoing the previous manual verification process. The integration enables secure user registration and identity verification while making online government transactions faster and more efficient.

Mayor Anthony "Kuya Piwa" Lim said the city pursued the subscription to the National ID Authentication Service as part of its long-term digital governance agenda. He said the partnership lays the foundation for expanding secure online services across more local government offices.

"Hindi lamang ito isang bagong teknolohiya, ito ay isang mahalagang hakbang upang maging mas episyente, mas transparent, at mas citizen-centered ang ating pamahalaan. Sa pamamagitan ng NIDAS integration sa ating Tayabazen Digital Platform, magkakaroon tayo ng mas ligtas na paraan ng identity verification," Lim said.

Lim said the city expects the National ID platform to serve as the foundation for additional digital government services in the coming years. He said future innovations will build on the same secure identity verification system to expand faster and more accessible public services for Tayabasin residents.

The Tayabas integration adds another local government to the Philippine Statistics Authority's expanding National ID Authentication Service network. PSA officials said wider adoption of the platform strengthens secure digital identity verification across government transactions.

PSA Assistant Secretary and Deputy National Statistician Rosalinda P. Bautista said Tayabas demonstrates how digital identity can strengthen public service while encouraging more local governments to adopt secure authentication systems. She said the partnership highlights how national and local governments can work together to expand trusted digital services across the country.

"Today, we celebrate another significant milestone in our nation's journey toward digital transformation. This moment marks a major step toward our shared commitment to delivering more efficient, secure and citizen-centered public service by harnessing the power of digital identity and innovation," Bautista said.

Bautista said the National ID Authentication Service continues to expand as more government agencies and local governments integrate digital identity into public services. She said broader adoption will make government transactions more secure, accessible and responsive for Filipinos.

"Through this partnership, we are not only embracing technology, we are making government services more accessible, secure and responsive to the everyday needs of every Tayabasin and every Filipino. May today's event serve as a testament to what we can achieve when national and local governments work together with a shared vision of better public service," she added.

Bautista reported that, as of May 31, 2026, more than 91.7 million Filipinos had received National ID numbers, while about 91.4 million could access their Digital National ID through the eGov PH application. She added that NIDAS had processed more than 133 million successful authentications, most of them from government agencies.

City Information and Communications Technology Office head Dr. Raymond Bermudez said the project began in November 2025 and required months of document reviews, system validation and cybersecurity testing before receiving approval for implementation. He said the platform now verifies qualified users immediately instead of requiring the previous one- to two-day manual verification process.

Authenticated records will feed into the city's Executive Dashboard and Citizen 360 system, according to City Information and Communications Technology Office head Dr. Raymond Bermudez. The centralized platform will also strengthen decision-making as more city offices expand their digital services.

The Philippine Statistics Authority awarded the City Government of Tayabas a Certificate of Appreciation recognizing its successful integration of the National ID Authentication Service into the Tayabazen Digital Platform. The citation recognized Tayabas as the first local government unit in CALABARZON to complete the integration, reinforcing the city's role in advancing secure digital governance in the region.
