Lucena City, Quezon - The Southern Luzon Command (SOLCOM) facilitated the handover of base support function (BSF) of Headquarters Support Group (HSG), Southern Luzon Command to 2nd Installation Management Battalion (2IMB) of the army support command in a ceremony held at the SOLCOM covered court, Camp Nakar, this city on May 17.
The handover of base support function was attended by Major General Elmer C. Pabale, Commander, army support command and Lieutenant General Ferdinand F. Quidilla, commander of Southern Luzon Command and the local media practitioners of Quezon province and ABS-CBN Batangas. The headquarters support group (HSG) of Southern Luzon Command is currently headed by Major Genevee Danas as commanding officer catering the base support needs of SOLCOM will be deactivated and downgraded from headquarters support group to headquarters company. The 2nd installation management battalion (2IMB) of the army support command headed by Colonel Jose B. Broso as commanding officer as commanding officer will take over the base support function and to administer HSOLCOM base support services. The mission of the 2IMB is to manage an army installation and provide the base support services, Camp Nakar, Lucena City.
The functions of the 2IMB are to provide facility management and engineering services; manage and maintain real estate and lodging facilities, to include family housing in army installation; provide physical security; provide health services to personnel; provide emergency services, transportation and community services inside the camp; provide morale, welfare, recreation and band services and provide personnel for ceremonial activities.
