LUCENA CITY, Quezon -- Around 500 Quezonians composed of government employees, officers and members of different sectors in Lucena City, Quezon Province attended the Philippine Information Agency’s ASEAN multisectoral forum at the Pacific Mall Activity center, this city on September 7.

The forum was organized by the Philippine Information Agency Calabarzon (4A) Regional Office and Quezon Information Center in partnership with Pacific Mall, Lucena City headed by its manager Ms. Kata Jabrica; DWLC-Radyo Pilipinas and Calayan Foundation Inc. which aims to promote and increase the level of awareness of the participants on ASEAN integration benefits.

The activity is in line also with the 50th anniversary of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) wherein the Philippines is the chairman of the celebration.

PIA-4A Regional Director Ma. Cristina Arzadon discussed the overview of the forum while PIA-4A assistant regional director Carlo Gonzaga tackled the role of PIA in ASEAN promotion.

Resource speakers during the ASEAN-multi-sectoral forum included Mr. Marvin Malacaman, the tourism operation officer of the Department of Tourism-Region 4A, who discussed the tourism program on ASEAN and Ms. Carol Lanceta, the community affairs officer of the Provincial Gender and Development office of Quezon, who tackled the topic “Enhancing Gender and Mainstreaming Efforts/Initiatives for ASEAN integration’.

Provincial board member Elizabeth Sio (2nd district of Quezon) also delivered an inspirational message to the participants. (GG/Ruel Orinday, PIA-Quezon)
