LUCENA CITY, Quezon -- Maryhill College, Lucena City was declared champion in Tanghalang Pangmamimili” contest conducted by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)- Quezon provincial office at the event center, SM City Lucena on 19 October 2017.

Leila Cabreros, chief of consumer protection division of DTI-Quezon said the contest which was participated by high school students from different schools in Lucena City & Quezon province is one of the activities of their office in line with the consumer protection month celebration with the theme “Consumer Rights in the Digital Age” in October.

The contest also aims to increase the level of awareness of the consumer’s rights and responsibilities in a buying a product from a store, supermarkets or malls.

“Consumers should be careful in buying a product, they should know and see the expiration of the product if they will buy canned goods or food,” Cabreros added.

Other winners in the “Tanghalang Pangmamimili” were Lucena Dalahican National High School- 1st runner-up; International School for Better Beginnings- 2nd runner-up and Cotta National High School- 3rd runner-up.

Meanwhile, DTI-Quezon also conducted an animated infomercial contest at the Pacific Mall activity center, Lucena City on 20 October 2017 which was participated by college students from different colleges & universities of Lucena City.

The winners in this contest were STI- Academic Center Lucena- Champion; Saint Anne College of the Pacific- 1st runner up; Sacred Heart College- 2nd runner-up. The winners in the two competition also received cash prizes from DTI-Quezon). (GG/Ruel Orinday, PIA-Quezon)
