Camp BGen Vicente P Lim - CALABARZON Police Regional Director PCSUPT Edward E Carranza reported to the Chief PNP, Police Director General Oscar D Albayalde on the surrender of the suspect in the stabbing incident happened on July 27, 2018 at around 4:00 in the morning at Camella North, Brgy. Molino 3, Bacoor City, Cavite wherein the victim, Shanmaine T. Pestaño, 20 years old, single, newly graduate, was stabbed 22 times.

According to RD Carranza during a press conference held today at this camp, around 1:15 in the morning of Aug. 2, 2018, the suspect Andrew C. Baguasan voluntarily surrendered to the members of Bacoor City Police Station and admitted that he was the lone person responsible for the stabbing incident that resulted to the death of the victim Shanmaine T. Pestaño.

“Upon knowledge of the incident, our Chief PNP, Police Director General Oscar D Albayalde called me and directed me to double our efforts in solving the case and he also assured the family of the victim that the PNP will do everything to give them justice and that the responsible person or persons will be put behind bars.

Suspect Andrew C. Baguasan, 30 years old, tricycle driver and a resident of Queensrow Central, Bacoor City is included in the Watch list of the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council (BADAC) as he was identified as drug dependent. According to PSUPT Cabatingan, the suspect previously attended the 60-Day Community Based Rehabilitation Program of their barangay but only attended for 5 days.

Due to the continuous effort made by the elements of Bacoor City Police Station with the cooperation of the people and barangay officials within the area, the suspect was alarmed and decided to surrender.

“The suspect was also involved in series of ‘akyat bahay’ incidents in the area.

COP Cabatingan added.

The weapon used, the clothes worn by the suspect during the incident and some stolen items who was identified by victim’s family members as victim’s personal belongings were recovered, however some items like the PSP4 of the victim according to the suspect was sold by the suspect to a person in exchange of illegal drugs.

Latent prints were also lifted at the crime scene by the Cavite SOCO and is currently being processed. Aside from the witnesses who have seen him prior to the crime, an 8 year old girl, niece of the victim and was with her during the incident positively identified the suspect.

A case of Robbery with Homicide is already being prepared for filing against the suspect.(PIO- PRO4A)
