The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) has announced that the voter's registration in preparation for the 2022 presidential polls has resumed since last August 1 and now on-going up to September 30, 2019 which is a period of two months, to give the people of voting age already enough time to register without hassle or problem.

According to the Batangas Provincial Election Office, new voters can register even on Saturdays and holidays, and that aside from registering as new voters, those who have been delisted from the voters list can apply for the reactivation of their registration.

Batangas Provincial Election Officer Atty. Candy Orense, in an exclusive interview the other day, explained that as a policy, the registration of those who failed to vote in the 2018 barangay and SK election and in the recently concluded May 2019 local and national polls had already been deactivated.

It was likewise clarified that voters turning 18 years of age need not register for the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) anymore because it will be automatically transferred from the SK list to the regular voters list.

Orense is advising the people to register early and don't wait for the last day, to avoid rushing and unnecessary problems, or hassles.

Two months is a long period of time. So we have all the time we need. Karamihan kasi nasanay na, na kung kailan last hours na, saka nagkukumahog.

Kadalasan tuloy, nagkakaroon ng hindi inaasahang problema o kalituhan. Kaya sana naman, this time, let us change for the better. We've got a lot of time, enough time to register. Huwag na po tayong maghintay ng deadline," Atty. Candy advises the public.
She likewise stressed that suffrage is both a sacred right and duty of the people. But people can not vote unless they are duly registered and counted.
