“Actually yung poster making and essay writing is a yearly activity ng OCD, every year idinaraos ang ganitong contest,” according to Mr. Reyan Derrick Marquez, Assistant Regional Director of OCD IV-A. (“Actually, the poster making and essay writing is a yearly activity of OCD. Every year we conduct this kind of contest.”)

Mr. Marquez also emphasized the significance of this event in connection with this year’s theme: “Kahandaan Sa Sakuna’t Peligro Para Sa Tunay Na Pagbabago” to the essay writing and poster making contest.

“We are aiming with OCD and NDRRMC na magkaron ng tunay na pagbabago, itaas yung level o antas ng kahandaan, so pwedeng last year naging aware sila na may mga ganoon pero ngayon itataas pa natin yung kahandaan tapos yung tunay na pagbabago, yung kahandaan ng lahat hindi lang sa local, lalo na yung sa regional level mai-impart tapos with this activity sa bata palang magsimula na, ‘di ba?,” he added.

(We are aiming with the OCD and NDRRMC to have a real change, to raise the level of preparedness, if last year they have become aware of such things, now we are raising it to next level, to the readiness for the real change, the willingness of everyone not just locally, especially at the regional level to be imparted with, then this activity, they can start with it at the young age, right? ”)

“Kasi these are elementary and high school students e so aware sila na within their schools may ganoong peligro may ganoong risk na sinasabi then mag-start sa kanila, so pro-active na sila at the same time like this poster making and essay writing contest sabi nga. Parang knowledge transfer.”

(“Because these elementary and high school students are aware that within their schools there is such a risk that they say, then things starts with them, they are now pro-active like with this poster making and essay writing contest. It’s now like knowledge transfer.”)

With the poster making and essay writing, OCD aims to raise the awareness of students in the field of DRRM. (MBL, PIA4A)
