Tagaytay City-112 teachers, writers, content editors, illustrators, layout artists, and validators of Region IV-A CALABARZON collaborate to develop a learning resource in Science and MTB for Grade 3 on October 2 to 11, 2019 at the Development Academy of the Philippines, Tagaytay City.

The workshop aims to reproduce, contextualize, and finalize manuscript in Science and MTB for Grade Three that will be utilized by the whole country. The workshop was sponsored by the Central Office of DepEd.

“The Writeshop was a very tedious task but it was fulfilling and rewarding. Being part of the development team was a privileged one. Somehow, I was able to share what I have learned and I learned what I didn’t know. My co-participants were able to share selflessly their brilliant ideas and with that, I realized that many heads are better than one. Just like in developing learning materials, we cannot do it alone instead, we need each other to come up with the best ideas suited competencies for our learners. The 10-day training made me realized that we should not teach only for book-based, but rather it should be evidence-based teaching. Real-life experience matter. I am looking forward that the learning material will be utilized in the field by both the teachers and learners,” said Jonathan A. Almirante, a Teacher-Writer from Bacoor City.

“The whole development team was inspiring. I was very happy to be with amazing people. The Writeshop was not stressful. It was not easy to develop a book but as they say, unity is power. Above all, the Writeshop brings people together, the friendship, and the bonding will be for keeps,” Jhucel Atienza del Rosario, illustrator from Cavite Province.

John Roldan C. Dimaano, Editor and Evaluator for Science said in the closing ceremony said that the people in the Writeshop were brilliant.

“Wala kang maririnig sa kanila kundi yes po, sige po sir. Walang reklamo. We miss our families, our students, and the backlogs of works. But we are here to serve for our country,” he said.

A total of 22 days of hard work for the Science group to finalized the learning materials. The MTB group will conduct another Writeshop on January for the finalization of the learning resource.
