24 Air Force soldiers deployed to tighten ECQ measures in GenTri

The local government of Gen. Trias requested the Philippine Air Force to support the PNP law enforcement in the city for the strict implementation of the ECQ protocols. (Photo from Dennis Abrina)

GENERAL TRIAS, Cavite - About 24 soldiers from the 730th Combat Group and 720th Special Operations Group of the Philippine Air Force were deployed here to tighten ECQ protocols implemented in the city.

These armed back-up was requested by City Mayor Ony Ferrer in order to support the local PNP for a more stringent enforcement of COVID-19 counter measures to keep the residents safe and regulate peace and order in the city during the quarantine period.

In Gov. Remulla's previous announcement, the city came third with the highest number of residents apprehended for breaking the enhanced community quarantine protocols with a total of 213 violators.

Gen. Trias Chief of Police PLtCol. Marlo Solero said, "I am happy to welcome this added power and we will work side-by-side to enforce the law to make this quarantine extension effective."

The PNP has 165 personnel assigned in the city who will work with the PAF in guarding the border checkpoints, oversee peaceful and orderly distribution of DSWD SAP cash aid and LGU relief goods and to monitor other ECQ protocols like the 24 hour curfew, liquor ban, No Face Mask and lockdown days.

Meanwhile, Mayor Ony Ferrer requested everyone to remain calm, stay inside their homes, and observe basic ECQ protocols when outside the house to protect themselves from infection.
