BATANGAS CITY - Governor Hermilando 'DoDo' Mandanas has given a directive to the Batangas Province Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) to undertake an immediate preparation and study for modernization of health facilities in the management of the provincial government, as well as strengthening their capacity to respond to national health and medical emergencies (NHME), such as a pandemic.

At the meeting of the Batangas IATF-EID, through a teleconference on 18 May 2020, Governor Mandanas emphasized the importance of having adequate provincial assets. He also wants more public hospitals in Batangas.

The governor appointed the Provincial Health Office (PHO) to formulate a modernization plan for provincial and district hospitals, with fully-equipped emergency rooms and medical equipment, such as CT Scan and MRI machines, and adequate medical personnel.

The program is a step up in the Level 2 Medical Accreditation of public medical facilities in Batangas, which is in line with the capacity of modern hospitals in the country.
PHO will also coordinate with the Provincial Engineering Office to immediately study the construction of more district hospitals in the second district for citizens of San Pascual, Mabini, and Bauan Municipalities.

Gov. also reminded the immediate renovation of quarantine facilities across the province. He also provided a directive to subject all provincial government officials and staff to the COVID 19 PCR Test.

Gov. Mandanas also contacted Batangas PNP Chief of Police, Col. Rex Arvin Torres-Malimban, for examining members of the Batangas PNP on the COVID 19 frontline.

Currently, the entire province is under the General Community Quarantine (GCQ) but is still in strict compliance with medical and quarantine guidelines released by the National Inter-Agency Task Force.

The provincial government continues to conform to its local governments and all of Batangueño's compliance with quarantine protocols such as physical or social distancing, wearing face masks and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and adhering to curfew measures and Stay at Home policies for those under 20 years of age, senior citizens and individuals with respiratory conditions.
