LUCENA CITY - Lucena City Mayor Roderick Dondon Alcala, attended with his eldest son Kuya Mark Alcala and City Administrator Anacleto Alcala Jr. the recent launch of a dredging machine in Barangay Cotta led by the Provincial Government.

The machinery came directly from the Department of Public Works and Highways or DPWH which was made possible by the 2nd district representative Congressman David Suarez because of the department's continued support for the provincial government project.

In his speech, Mayor Alcala expressed his gratitude to the individuals behind the provision of machinery because it has many positive effects for Lucena.

He said it will be of great help to prevent flooding in the said barangay and throughout the City.

With such machinery, after the redemption of the Iyam River and the Dumacaa River, in addition to preventing flooding, it will further deepen the river which will open up opportunities for projects in the tourism sector.

According to the Mayor, as the river deepens, the planned floating restaurant in the so-called twin river will continue.

Apart from the above, it will also help the city's sanitary landfill. What can be obtained from the rivers is a pile available in such an area.

On the whole, the city government is very grateful for the provision of such dredging machine which he said will really help the city not only during this rainy season but also at all times.

He also expressed his gratitude to the entire DPWH especially Secretary Mark Villar and Senator Bong Go. The machinery assistance in Quezon province will be of great help. He also said that he is really excited about other opportunities that such dredging machines can open.

The operation of such dredging machine will continue even after its dredging on the Iyam River and Dumacaa River to further prevent the city from the dangerous rise of water which eventually causes flooding which is devastating to the lives of the Lucenahin .
