GENERAL LUNA, Quezon - The local government unit led by Mayor Matt Erwin V. Florido visited various new potential project sites for the Pineapple Processing Center to be built in Barangay Nieva, General Luna, Quezon, on June 24. Mayor Florido stated that the project's original proposed location was not feasible, so a new location was needed.

On December 10, 2019, the counterpart of Php 2.2M was approved for an estimated Php 12M processing center with its equipment and tools, with the assistance of the Department of Agriculture IVA and the Provincial Government of Quezon led by Governor Danilo "Danny" E. Suarez.

It is in the procurement stage, and the project is set to begin in 2021.

There were two (2) options for a possible new location project site in Barangay Nieva with the assistance of the Samahan ng Magsasaka ng Nieva and the Sangguniang Barangay under the leadership of Kapitan Pio Regencia according to Mayor Florido.

Mayor Florido also stated that these two areas have already been inspected by the region's validation team and are awaiting a response from the landowners. It is necessary to finalize the project's location before the end of the month because it is expected to be completed by the end of 2021.

Meanwhile, the Local Government has prepared that if no identified area in Nieva is found, he said the municipality's own land in Brgy. San Vicente will be used.

He also stated that the relocation and topographic survey of the aforementioned land was completed immediately.

Mayor Florido expressed gratitude to Municipal Agriculturist Jr. Pedragoza and Municipal Assessor Engr. Ruel Lardizabal for their assistance and guidance.
