BATANGAS CITY - The Batangas City Commission on Elections (Comelec) has announced that it has exceeded its target number of registrants in the city, with 12,000 registered since the first day of registration for 2022. Elections.

According to Batangas City Election Officer Gene Barte, those who registered include deactivated accounts, new voters, and a significant number of those who registered for satellite registration in the city's upland and island barangays.

In this regard, on Saturday, August 21, 245 city residents were able to register for the Batangas City COMELEC's voter satellite registration at SM City Batangas.

The goal of satellite registration, according to Barte, is to encourage more citizens to register to vote.

“Napili naming magsagawa ng satellite registration sa dalawang Sabado ng Agosto, 21 at 28 at dalawang Sabado sa Setyembre, 4 at 11 sa SM City Batangas sapagkat ito ay accessible at convenient para sa mga registrants,” Barte said.

It will be remembered that voter registration began in September of last year and will continue until September 30, 2021.

Barte emphasized that there is no longer an extension, so the registration hours at the COMELEC offices are from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. from August 23 to the deadline.

Due to the extended registration period, it is expected that the number of people will increase from 200 to 300 per day.

Their office encourages the use of iRehistro online accomplishment of forms for registration or the scanning of the bar code for pre-registration to speed up the process.

Meanwhile, the COMELEC Batangas City expressed heartfelt gratitude to the city government for its assistance in ensuring the proper conduct of voter registration.

They also thanked SM City Batangas for using their facility. (with report from PIO Batangas City)
