IMUS CITY, Cavite – The Imus City Schools Division Office (SDO) is ready for the new school year with distance learning measures that include both modular and online learning options.

The Department of Education highlighted the ‘Bidang Imuseo Learning 5 Ms' during the virtual kick-off on September 13 in conjunction with the start of school in public schools for the School Year 2021-2022.

According to Imus City SDO Information Officer Christian Mespher Hernandez, the DepEd – Imus plan will improve the delivery of the Basic Learning Continuity Plan.

The program contains Means & Media, which are platforms that are available and accessible to learners; Learning Modalities, which are methods and approaches that may be used to better teach learners; and MELC-IDEA refers to the competences and content or lessons that should be provided to learners; Learning Mastery, which emphasizes feedback, assessment, and proficiency to ensure that students genuinely learn their lessons, and Learning Management, which addresses which learning modules, materials, and management system are required to be prepared.

Teachers receive ongoing training in a variety of learning modalities, with an emphasis on adjusting and improving teaching strategies.

Enrolled students are assigned profiles depending on their family's financial capacity, if they have the financial means to provide for online class devices, who will be the learner's guide, and other relevant facts affecting the learner's education.

“This year the SDO will focus on the advocacy of ‘maximum impact, minimum activities’,” Hernandez said.

This will be accomplished by integrated activities such as quarterly school monitoring, evaluation, and assessment, which will ensure the students' growth.

“Depending on the prevailing quarantine status, E-Jeeps can be used for home visitations for monitoring of learners in their homes,” Hernandez said.

As of September 9, 2021, DepEd-Imus reports a total of 103,716 enrolees in public and private schools.

In the city, there are a total of 78,520 pupils enrolled in public schools and 25,196 in private schools, with the number of students projected to rise with the start of classes.

The figures reveal that parents have a high level of trust in distant learning education, which is currently the New Normal in education.

The success of the DepEd – Imus, according to Imus City Mayor Emmanuel Maliksi, is due to the efforts and cooperation of all stakeholders, as well as the assistance of private establishments and corporations to the education sector for the benefit of the Imuseo youth.
