TRECE MARTIRES CITY, Cavite – The Department of Education (DepEd) Imus thru the City Schools Division Office (SDO) has taken steps in preparation for the schools’ readiness for the limited face-to-face classes with the goal of herd immunity almost in reach.
One of these measures is the aggressive vaccination rollout for the employees, school heads, teachers, and non-teaching staff of the schools in the city.
According to Assistant Schools Division Superintendent Ivan Inductivo, almost 95% of the total 2,900 school employees have already been vaccinated against CoViD-19.
“More of less 140 plus teachers and employees remain unvaccinated. They are the pregnant employees; those with comorbidities, and those who we respect their wish not to be vaccinated,” stated Inductivo.
In support of the Pediatric vaccination rollout, Inductivo said that they had commenced an advocacy campaign starting with the Parents Teachers Associations (PTA) in the city and in partnership with the City Health Office for the assessment and issuance of clearance and medical certificate to speed up processing of the immunization of the students.
Meanwhile, Imus City Mayor Emmanuel Maliksi commended the city SDO under the able leadership of Dr. Rosemarie Torres, and the collaborative efforts of the school heads, teachers and staff for the E-JeepAralan program using the E-Jeeps given by the city government.
“The way these teachers used the E-Jeeps, converting it into mobile classrooms to reach out to struggling learners for the intensive intermediation thru one-on-one tutorials is really a commendable feat because it shows the dedication and heart of a true educator,” Mayor Maliksi said.
The E-Jeeps were granted to the city schools with primary aim of transporting the learning modules to the parents and students to keep them safe from exposure and infection of the COVID-19 in the midst of the pandemic. — Ruel Francisco, PIA Cavite/GG
