LUCENA CITY, Quezon — The Sariaya Agricultural Trading Center Facilities (SATCF) in Barangay Sampaloc 2, Sariaya town, was officially opened on October 21.

SATCF was inaugurated by Department of Agriculture Secretary William Dar and Quezon Governor Danilo E. Suarez, heralding the opening of Quezon's largest agricultural trading center for farmers and consumers.

According to the Quezon Public Information Office, the project will serve as a bridge for increased agricultural trade not only for the province, but also for the entire Southern Tagalog region.

The trading center has 160 stalls, an administrative building, trading facilities, a parking lot, and roads that connect to main roads.

Second District Representative David Suarez issued a statement outlining the steps taken to raise funds for the project, which is expected to create numerous jobs not only in Sariaya but throughout the province.

Quezon Governor Danilo Suarez, on the other hand, announced that the new trading center will serve as a large dumping ground for agricultural products in the province and provide income for his countrymen.

He said the facility can be considered a great success in promoting the province to become a ‘food basket’ for the entire Calabarzon region.

Sec. William Dar emphasize that apart from carrying agricultural products, such a trading facility is also expected to open up employment for other traders. The secretary also promised to continue the renovation of other trading center facilities.

Meanwhile, in conjunction with the inauguration of the facility, the DA also officially launched the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund-Rice Farmers Financial Assistance (RCEF-RFFA) for farmers.

Also present at the inauguration of the trading center were Second District Representative David “Jay-Jay” Suarez, First District Representative and House Committee Chairman on Agriculture and Food Wilfrido Mark M. Enverga, Sariaya Mayor Marcelo Gayeta and other officials from DA Region IV- A.
