TESDA-4A opens 2021 skills competition




CALAMBA CITY, Laguna — Technical-vocational graduates in the different parts of Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon) now gear up to unravel and showcase their skills as the provincial offices of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Region IV-A commenced this year’s provincial skills competition.

In Rizal province, tech-voc graduates from three institutions are competing to various trade areas such as Welding Technology, Fashion Technology, Refrigeration, and Airconditioning.



TESDA-Rizal which organizes the event kicked-off their provincial skills competition on Wednesday at the Provincial Technical Education and Skills Development Center (PTESDC) in Taytay.

Meanwhile, 13 competitors, 13 experts, and 14 external experts in Batangas are also vying to qualify for the regional level of the competition as they contend in 11 trade areas including Restaurant Servicing, Cooking, Bakery, Web Technology, IT Software Solutions For Business, Information Network Cabling, IT Network System Admin, Graphic Design, Mechanical Engineering Cad, Automotive Technology, and Welding.



TESDA Cavite also kicked-off their provincial skills competition on Wednesday, where tech-voc graduates representing various institutions compete on welding technoloy and mechatronics.

According to TESDA-4A, the skills competition targets to stimulate the growth of high-quality vocational, technical, and work values among youth and talented laborers.



The competitors for this year’s skills competition will be subjected to a demo and will be rated accordingly based on the WorldSkills Philippines (WSPH) standards. Winners and qualifiers of the provincial skills competition will advance to the regional skills competition in November.

TESDA IV-A Regional Director Toni June A. Tamayo, in a video message, empowered the competitors to show their best and globally competitive skills and talents and advised them to stay humble.

He also encouraged both experts and competitors to strive for the best and greatness without compromising fairness.

TESDA organizes the annual competition as a platform for showcasing the skills of tech-voc graduates and trainees under the Tecchnical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) program in various trade areas. — FC, PIA4A (with reports from TESDA-4A)
