Batangas Provincial Project Monitoring Committee hosts Training for Local Counterparts





BATANGAS CITY - The Batangas Provincial Project Monitoring Committee (PPMC), a team of government and private agencies, conducted a one-day online training for Local Project Monitoring Committees (LPMCs) last October 20, 2021.

Entitled “Training on Monitoring and Evaluation for Local Project Monitoring Committees (LPMCs),” the activity was participated in by selected employees from the Municipal Governments of Bauan, Calaca, Lian, Mataasnakahoy, San Jose and Taal.



The training focused on the Regional Project Monitoring and Evaluation System (RPMES) Operational Guidelines, which provide a scheme for monitoring and evaluating projects at the national, regional, provincial, and city/municipality levels, with the extensive and active participation of various government agencies, local government units (LGUs) and non-government organizations at all levels.

Resource speakers in the virtual training were Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Batangas Provincial Director Abigail Andres; Mr. Jose Doroteo De Mesa of DILG Batangas; Maria Divina Gracia Dalisay, Project Evaluation Officer III, of the Provincial Planning and Development Office (PPDO); and Jo Anne Cuasay, Project Evaluation Officer II, also from PPDO.



Representatives from the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) IV-A were also present and provided support in the said activity.

Batangas PPMC was created by the virtue of Executive Order No. 2HIM1-11 Series of 2016, of Governor DoDo Mandanas, as amended by Executive Order No. 2HIM2-09 Series of 2020, to monitor projects funded from the Internal Revenue Allotment (IRA) share of the local government or supported by funds released directly to the province, as well as projects funded from locally-generated sources.



The committee is also responsible in recommending remedial measures to problems or issues identified during monitoring activities.

Batangas PPMC is headed by the Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator, Engr. Evelyn L. Estigoy, with DILG Provincial Director Andres as Vice Chairperson. Among its members are 3rd District Board Member, Atty. Jhoanna Corona-Villamor, who is the Committee on Appropriations Chairperson; League of Municipalities of the Philippines – Batangas President and San Jose Mayor Valentino R. Patron; Provincial Budget Officer Victoria B. Culiat; Philippine Chamber of Commerce & Industry – Batangas Chapter President, Engr. Raul Mercado; and Citizens Crime Watch – Malvar Chapter President, Ms. Rowena P. Murillo.
